People seem to be wary of each other nowadays. That is why random acts of kindness almost startle them at times. They also have a profound effect on their lives. Dr. Wayne Dyer explains what kindness does to people in his book, ‘Power of Intention’. He describes the effects a feel – good drug, serotonin, has on people. People who practice random acts of kindness and the people at the receiving end both receive a rush of serotonin in their bodies. In other words, kindness is a happiness drug. The release of endorphins makes people happy, not only temporarily, but with long lasting effects.

Ready to indulge in this “give happy, get happy” treatment? It is very easy to practice random acts of kindness. What you need isIf you want kindness in the world, put it there. an open heart and helpful approach. When you see someone in need, maybe you feel a little pang of sorrow. This is actually your heart telling you to help that person. Mostly ignored, this little voice is usually drowned by other thoughts in this fast paced lifestyle. It could be as simple as sending them a silent blessing. It might surprise you, but the result is worth the effort.

When you practice random acts of kindness, people in turn become inspired by your actions. If this spirit of giving and helping spreads, the world will become a much better place. Here are some hints of what you can do:

1. Leave a note for the mail person to tell them what a great job they are doing

2. In the world of technology, go onto someone’s webpage that you like and comment about a blog post that you loved.

3. Leave a book that you have read… and loved… for someone else to find it and read it.

Kindness Begins with me4. Drop a toy or game off at the local hospital waiting room.

5. Take a plate of cookies to a local seniors home or for the workers at a pet shelter.

Practice random acts of kindness, and you notice how easier your life becomes. Back to the serotonin (happy drug your body
naturally produces) that Dr. Wayne Dyer spoke about is that studies show that the giver of the act of kindness actually receives more serotonin through the act of giving than the receiver does. Even more of a reason why the act of kindness should be a daily ritual.
