The Short List of Habits of Truly Positive People

It’s not that positive people don’t face adversity or tragedy, it’s that they possess the ability to remember to keep things in perspective. Many have been practicing positive habits for years. Although, most people who live positive lives have far more than three positive habits, there are three I have found to be near the top of every list or on the tip of each tongue.

There is no doubt that the lives we live today are hectic and overwhelming. Our society pushes us to keep up with trends. Our needs seem to be more expensive, more money is needed for ur lives, and many of us are working long hours to provide. However, even in our feelings of exhaustion and lack, we have so many things to be grateful for. Is there a roof over your head? Is there breath in your lungs? Are you able to hug someone you love?

There will always be more to do and things that can bring us down. There will always be things to worry about. However, if we are able to stop for a moment and focus on the blessings in our lives, we can be quickly amazed by how wonderful things can be.

Practice Kindness – Especially to Yourself

Being kind to others beings a bit of joy to the world around you. It can warm your heart while it warms the hears of those you are able to help. Kindness allows a softening in the edges of the hard world many of us live in.

When practicing kindness, it is essential to remember to be kind to yourself. This may be the most important part of practicing kindness. In those moments when you look in the mirror, learn to love what you see. Remind yourself what you are capable of, what you have accomplished, and how proud you are.

Take Responsibility for Your Life

Understand and embrace the belief that you are a product of your choices. When you understand this, you can make choices that will impact your life in the most positive way. When you understand this, you start to realize you have control over your life. That knowledge is empowering and can lead to a much stronger sense of self.

Positive people don’t just have a positive day, they choose to MAKE every day positive. They understand that there are negative things around them. However, if they focus on the negative, that is the direction their life will turn. When the focus is on the positive, their lives start to look a bit brighter.

There are so many positive habits that can be added to your life to encourage positivity. The habits listed above are a “great place to start”. Here are some more that may help encourage your positivity and inspire hope in your day.

  • Focus on the present. Forget the past and let the future happen tomorrow.
  • Smile – even when you don’t feel like it.
  • Figure out what you want from life and go after it. Dare to dream.
  • Take time to relax and focus on yourself every day.
  • Let negative things go. Negative habits, negative relationships, negative thoughts. Let them go.
